Playing Golf without your Golf Clubs
Well you are not going to play any golf at all in this exercise. You are going to watch and learn. And you are going to learn from golfers who are significantly better than you are. If you have a handicap certificate of the 18+ handicap bracket then you need to watch players who are playing off of a 10 - 12 handicap If you are in the 12 - 18 handicap bracket then you need to be watching players who are playing off a 4 - 8 golfing handicap If you are in the 6 - 10 handicap bracket then you are pretty good yourself but you can still learn a lot from players who are playing off Scratch - 2 golf handicaps. So this exercise needs you to take time out to walk a round or rounds watching other players. When you are playing yourself you become so involved in your own game that you really don't think about the other players in your group. What you need to do is select one of the handicap groups above and find some players who you can walk round with. You need to have a notepad and pencil and take lots of notes. Make notes of what clubs players use off of the tee, what clubs they use from different distances and if they manage to reach the green or are short or long with these clubs. Make a note of the shape of their shots, do they hook or slice? Just by walking round and making a note of the way different players play and how they react will help you when out on the course. By watching players and the situations they get into you can use this watching experience to eliminate the mistakes that you yourself have spotted in your golf exercise. You will also be able to use the positive situations where the players you watched pulled off a shot with a certain type of club or with a certain type of hazard that had to be negotiated. Watching other players shots, their mistakes and successes will make you think about your own shots more carefully when you are on the course and this will in turn eliminate errors and bad shotmaking decisions. This is one of the best golf aids you can use and will definately save you one or two strokes per round, nothing to be sneezed at. I know it's not easy watching other players but do try this out. Once you have done this then you can work on the next piece of instruction which is going to get you to Grow Another Golf Tree
